Matt Smith is nominated for Best Actor. He’s up against David Tennant (Broadchurch), the Master himself John Simm (The Village) and previous incarnation Derek Jacobi (Last Tango In Halifax).

Jenna-Louise Coleman is nominated for Best Actress and battles the TARDIS again in the form of Suranne Jones (Scott & Bailey).

i.e. It’s a Who-fest.

Oh but isn’t this wizard though?

Throughout 7B, we’ve had several fairly tongue-in-cheek references to older Doctor Who stories, such as Susan, the coat hangar/umbrella rack (or lack of) and “Braveheart”. And to those who may (or may not, which is okay) know, it’s a fond bit of nostalgia.

But then you get the Cyber-Planner taking control of the Doctor and I get reminded of ‘Midnight’. It’s the Doctor speaking but the monster has taken his words, his little happy sayings and subverts them into something horrific and terrifying. And what a fantastic job Matt Smith did of realising this.
