A brilliant new competition giving secondary school students the chance to create a musical soundtrack to a recent clip from Doctor Who - winning entries will be performed at the Doctor Who Proms! The deadline for entries is Friday 24 May 2013.
Oh but isn’t this wizard though?
Throughout 7B, we’ve had several fairly tongue-in-cheek references to older Doctor Who stories, such as Susan, the coat hangar/umbrella rack (or lack of) and “Braveheart”. And to those who may (or may not, which is okay) know, it’s a fond bit of nostalgia.
But then you get the Cyber-Planner taking control of the Doctor and I get reminded of ‘Midnight’. It’s the Doctor speaking but the monster has taken his words, his little happy sayings and subverts them into something horrific and terrifying. And what a fantastic job Matt Smith did of realising this.
